Case Study 1:
Orna G. (Name has been changed to protect privacy)
Orna G. came to renewal center after reading about us online in a recent press release. She came to me frustrated after making countless attempts to rectify her weight issues as well as the other health complications she was suffering, likely a direct result of her weight gain.
When Orna first arrived at our center her vitals revealed a height of 5’4” and a weight of 208lbs, well over her desired limit. Her body fat reading was a staggering 44%. Almost half her body weight was adipose, or fat, tissue. This is one of the single most significant risk factors contributing to heart disease, diabetes, stroke and cancer. After complete Bio-Print based evaluation and initiation of a detoxification diet & weight loss program progress was evident within weeks.
In addition to her improved outlook follow up evaluation at two weeks revealed that Orna had already lost 9lbs. I decided to maintain her current regimen until her next evaluation at 4 weeks. At her 1 month follow up Orna had weighed in with another 6lbs. of weight loss. Although her weight loss was still significant and I was more then enthused with her progress Orna had expressed some disappointment over the fact that her weight loss had slowed. However, as many patients do, Orna had overlooked the importance of body fat percentage. When I completed the rest of my evaluation her body fat percentage had shown a total reduction of 5%!
For those unaware of how profound that is let me elaborate. When Orna was first evaluated she had a body weight of 208lbs with a body fat % of 44. This means that her body composition was 99.84lbs fat with the remaining lean mass measuring 108.16lbs.
At 1 her 1 month re-evaluation her body weight was 193lbs. with a bf% measurement of 39%. That breaks down to a mere 75.27lbs. of body fat and 117.73lbs. of lean mass.
So let’s take a look at this side by side comparison.
Baseline Eval:
1 Month Follow Up
| Weight 208lbs |
Weight 193 lbs |
| BF % 44 |
BF % 39 |
| Lean Mass 108.16 lbs |
Lean Mass 117.73lbs |
| Fat Mass 99.84lbs |
Fat Mass 75.27lbs |
So, with a total weight loss of 15lbs. a more thorough evaluation reveals how profound her results were. Her total fat mass lost was almost 25lbs. This is due to the fact that she also gained a total of more then 9lbs of lean muscle tissue. A total loss of 25lbs of body fat is a great accomplishment not only aesthetically but from a health perspective as well.
These profound statistics are only revealed when we look more closely at her body composition by evaluating her body fat %.
While Orna has made significant progress she still has some work ahead of her but she now understand the significance of measuring her bf% as well as making a lifestyle commitment to maintaining these results.
