The New Flexible SpineCor Brace and Therapeutic Exercise Program Offers New Hope For Teens and Adults Disfigured By Unsightly Curvatures Of The Spine

Stopping progression and Reversing Scoliosis is Now Possible With The SpineCor Flexible Brace for Treatment of Scoliosis in Adults and Teens

Whatever the cause of your scoliosis (which is often unknown) it matters not.  This page is dedicated to providing a solution - not focusing on the problem itself.  While their is much research being conducted on the causal relationships of genetics, nutrition, neurological dysfunction and the development of scolios advances in treatment over the past 5-10 years have offered new hope for those previously diagnosed with scoliosis or those that suspect they may have it.

The reality is, that whatever the cause of your condition, what you are truly looking for is a viable treatment option that will stop the progression, reverse the curvature, reduce the disfigurement and unsightly loss of symmetry that scoliosis causes and eliminate your pain, if you are in fact in pain

In the past braces offered where hard rigid braces that were casted to the patients body using plaster and such.  Aside from the fact that most teenagers were relunctant to wear these cumbersome braces they in most cases were more unsightly then the physical distortion itself!

Who wants to undergo a treatment that is worse then the condition?!

The problem was non-compliance.  Many of these teenaged patients simply wouldn't wear the brace.  In addition to non-compliance the main problem with these braces is that they did little to reverse the condition and what's worse they actually caused the spine to become ridig, immobile and less flexible then before.  It's a very antequated approach to managing scoliosis and does little to support that own bodies ability to manage the curvature and support it's upright posture on it's own.

In fact, without the rigidity caused by long term use of these 'old' braces there would be almost no therapeutic benefit for the patient when not wearing the brace since their body's were incapable of holding them in a straight, upright position to begin with.  These types of braces only added to the deterioration of muscle tone in the spine due to something known as 'disuse atrophy.'

New Hope For Adult Scoliosis

SpineCor is the first dynamic flexible brace for the treatment of idiopathic scoliosis.  Although the developers of SpineCor only treat children we have designed protocols for the use of the SpineCor brace with adults and our preliminary results are extremely promising.

Adults often experience pain relief immediately when the brace if fitted appropriately. Due to the nature of the adult spine, different brace configurations were developed to successfully manage adult patients.  Studies show adult scoliosis to be potentially progressive in nature and to be a major contributor to chronic pain, radiculopathy and neurogenic claudication. Due to the abnormal posture and muscle recruitment patterns associated with adult scoliosis, adult programs are often supported with specialized physiotherapy programs.

Aggressive Non-Surgical Scoliosis Treatment for Teens

SpineCor® is a new breakthrough treatment for idiopathic scoliosis utilizing a dynamic corrective brace (DCB), clinical assistant diagnostic software (SAS) and postural measurement equipment (Freepoint).  In worldwide clinical use, this new treatment has been shown to be effective in 89% of cases (either by stabilization or improvement in (Cobb) angle of the curve).

The SpineCor® treatment approach is completely different to that of traditional 3-point pressure rigid braces; it is the first and only true dynamic bracing system for idiopathic scoliosis.  SpineCor®’s unique approach to treatment by global postural re-education has been shown to give progressive correction over time which, unlike any previous brace treatment, is extremely stable post brace weaning.  Clinical experience to date also shows better compliance and cosmetic results.  SpineCor®:

  • Allows patients four hours per day out of brace
  • Allows total freedom of movement
  • Offers better cosmesis under clothing, and
  • Is cooler to wear.

With all of these benefits, it is not difficult to see why compliance might be better than with bulky, rigid braces that severely restrict movement and must be worn 23 hours per day.  Although to date no specific study has been undertaken to quantify cosmetic improvement, subjectively, some striking improvements have been observed clinically.  Additionally, some very positive postural changes have been noted in cases where there has been no change in Cobb angle.

Summary

SpineCor® offers a much more acceptable treatment to patients, being cooler to wear, less restrictive, more easily concealed under clothing and 4 hours of out of brace time per day.  No side effects.  Rigid braces cause muscle atrophy and can be harmful to normal development in a growing child. Excellent treatment results, particularly when treatment is started early.   Excellent stability of treatment results post bracing. Neuromuscular integration for maintenance of improved posture. Potential to reduce incidence of surgical intervention.

Conclusion

SpineCor® is highly effective for the early treatment of idiopathic scoliosis as demonstrated in the case study and also offers significant benefits to patients who present late.  The real challenge is, therefore, to increase awareness of the absolute importance of early diagnosis and, that a viable treatment for early intervention is now available.
