ADD, ADHD, Attention Deficit & Hyperactivity:

Alternative treatment for ADD/HD and Hyperactivity in Manhattan, New York City | NYC.

Attention Deficit Disorder is a syndrome characterized by inability to focus Attention and periods of Hyperactivity - commonly exhibited in children but also affecting adults. ADD is believed to occur as a result of insufficient development of the Corpus Callosum of the Brain - this component of the Brain is responsible for the interhemispheric flow of information.

The transmission and interpretation of information in the brain is vital for the brain, and the body, to be able to interact with the surrounding environment while exhibiting normal behavior and development.

Symptoms of Attention Deficity Disorder

Cardiovascular System:

ADD patients have been found to have impaired Blood Circulation to their Putamen (a region of the Cerebrum of the Brain).

Nervous System:

  • Periods of inappropriate Aggressiveness are a symptom of ADD.
  • Reduced Attention Span is a symptom of ADD.
  • Inability to Concentrate for extended periods is a symptom of ADD.
  • Periods of inactivity followed by periods of hyperactivity are a symptom of ADD.

These Substances may Cause/Exacerbate Attention Deficit Disorder

  • Excessive consumption of Aspartic Acid can cause ADD (by causing over-stimulation of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) Receptors in the Brain.
  • Excessive consumption of Glutamic Acid can cause ADD (by causing over-stimulation of the N-Methyl-D-Aspartate (NMDA) Receptors in the Brain.
  • Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) can exacerbate ADD (by causing over-stimulation of the N-Methyl-D-Aspartate (NMDA) Receptors in the Brain.

While there are a battery of tests that are routinely performed on these children and the information provided is certainly valuable it rarely leads to a viable and effective treatment program. A gap egsists in the care paradigm and it's unfortunate for these children.

If the information gathered from a barage of tests does nothing to help formulate an effective treatment plan for these children is it really that valuable?  After all isn't it an improvement in your childs symptoms, their ability to develope, learn and flourish what you really seek?

Certain dietary factors, intestinal permeability, food allergies, neurotransmitter imbalance and problems with timing and sequencing have shown much promise in the ability of these children to overcome the burden's that are implied with a diagnosis of ADD/HD.

By finding and eliminating these aggravating factors the child's frustrations will deminish and their ability to focus, concentrate and behave in an approapriate manner will also improve.

The following are some of the diagnostic tests and therapies available for alternative treatment of ADD/HD at Renewal Center:

  • Intestinal Permeability Test
  • Food Allergy Assessment
  • Dietary Modification
  • Neurotransmitter Therapy/ Amino Acid Therapy
  • Vistibular-Occular Evaluation: assess 'brain based

reflexes'

A consultation and evaluation with one of our qualified practitioners is the first step to determining weather or not the therapies we offer are an appropriate intervention for you or your child.
